One Shared Flock.
One Historic Coop.
One Connected Community.
The Heritage Hen Collective is a community-supported preservation and education project that brings people together through shared stewardship, hands-on learning, and the care of a shared flock.
We provide thoughtfully designed, community-based opportunities for meaningful agricultural engagement, built on a model of shared responsibility and shared harvest.
At Trimborn Farm this mission takes shape through the reactivation of the historic chicken coop as a space for collaborative care, connection, and respect for the land and the animals entrusted to us.
Before the Hens Can Come Home
There is a great deal of work to do before the first hens can move into their new home.
The chicken coop has stood empty for decades and must be stabilized so it can safely serve both the flock and the community once again.
Outside, we'll construct a secure, predator-resistant run, install fencing, gates, feeders, water systems, nesting boxes, lighting, security cameras, and all of the equipment needed to provide exceptional daily care for the flock.

Help Us Prepare For The Flock’s Arrival
Contribute to the General Preservation Fund
When you donate to the General Preservation Fund you help us tackle the most urgent preservation and construction needs as we reactivate the historic coop and prepare the site for its first hens.
100% of your contribution will support preservation and reactivation efforts.
All contributors will be recognized as Founding Preservation Partners.
Contributions are available in increments of $25.
Every contribution earns Founding Heritage Credits which are distributed throughout the first year after the flock arrives, and larger contributions earn additional credits.
Every contribution, regardless of size, helps bring the historic coop back to life.

Become a Heritage Helper
Heritage Helpers are volunteers who lend their time and talents to support the Heritage Hen Collective. No chicken experience is required—just a willingness to help.
Fill out the Heritage Helper Form below and we'll let you know about upcoming volunteer opportunities as they become available.
What does being a Heritage Helper mean?
Heritage Helpers are the volunteer crew behind the Heritage Hen Collective—both as we restore and prepare the historic coop and after the flock arrives.
Depending on the season and what needs to be done, Heritage Helper opportunities might include:
Coop restoration and improvement projects
Painting, cleaning, landscaping, and grounds work
Seasonal work days and general upkeep
Preparing the coop and surrounding spaces for changing seasons
Setting up or helping with community events
Special projects around the coop and grounds
Pitching in wherever a few extra hands can make a difference
As the Collective grows, the projects will change too. Some work days may be larger improvement projects, while others may simply be a chance for our volunteer crew to come together for seasonal cleanup, maintenance, or a special project.
If you have a specific skill, trade, hobby, or area of expertise you'd like to offer, please reach out and let me know! Whether you're handy with tools, love gardening, enjoy organizing events, have a creative skill, or have an idea I haven't even thought of yet, we’d love to hear about it.
Everyone who helps bring the Heritage Hen Collective to life before our flock arrives will be recognized as a Founding Preservation Partner.
